Zeus, the god of sky and thunder, was the king of all the gods and the ruler of Mount Olympus. "Father Zeus," as he was known, sat in judgement over both gods and mortals, striking down evil-doers with thunderbolts or sentencing them to a variety of horrible punishments. Over time, Zeus had many children, mortal and immortal, including the hero Heracles and the gods Apollo and Artemis.
