After being driven to the maze of sewers below the city, Spawn relies upon special machinery which protects him from the chemicals that run rampant in his temporary home. The new breathing equipment allows Spawn to reside in this environment for prolonged periods of time, and the short range weapon he carries provides much needed protection in such closed quarters.
